Low E glass coatings from Australian Glass Group offer improved insulation properties

    Australian Glass Group

Specifically developed by Australian Glass Group to improve the insulating performance of glass, Low E glass coatings effectively reflect the heat created within a building back inside, increasing energy efficiency and reducing heating costs.

These coatings work by reflecting long wave infra red, or radiant heat, and perform best when incorporated into an Insulglass insulated glass unit, which can also provide additional protection to ensure a longer lifetime.

Low E glass coatings can be applied in a variety of thicknesses, ranging from 4mm to 10mm, and may be neutral in colour to ensure high solar heat gain, or conversely a tint can be incorporated to reduce solar heat gain.

In addition, Low E coatings can be supplied on toughened products for applications that demand Grade A safety glass, or where thermal stress to glass is a concern.

Considerable performance benefits can also be achieved when Low E glass coatings are supplied in laminated form.

The benefits of laminating Low E coatings include:

    • increased solar performance and safety
    • a 99% reduction in UV penetration; and
    • better sound insulation.
