Genie, a Terex company, has launched the AL4000 Light Tower specially designed for Australian conditions. When the AL400 is extended to its full height of 9.1m, its floodlight tower with four extendable outriggers illuminates 3 ha of land. Aiming the tower light from the ground is possible since the galvanized tower rotates 360°. The brushless 8 kW generator is powered by a 114L, 13 hp Kubota diesel engine. Standard lamps are metal halide 1,000W, though 1,500W globes can be selected as a special option if needed. A number of design features add to the light tower’s convenience, including a low maintenance electric winch and easy pallet pockets and lifting eye. It is built for tough terrain and weather, with a 100 km wind rating and light fixtures plugging into a weatherproof receptacle box with an IP66 rating. Plug-in ballasts are installed in galvanized steel boxes, and the control panel’s location inside the cabinet ensures protection from the elements. Its retractable power cord automatically recoils into a protective sleeve to prevent damage when raising, lowering and moving the tower. The light fixtures mount securely on the mast for travel, or can be left on crossarm.
