A durlum metal ceiling was specified for the Castle Towers Shopping Centre during its renovation.

Located in the Australian town of Castle Hill, NSW, about 30 kilometres to the north-west of Sydney, the 40-year-old shopping mall was upgraded through a gradual programme of conversion, with the modernisation project designed by The Buchan Group to reflect the changing needs of the community.

The objective of the shopping mall’s transformation was to bring together the best of fashion, food, home and lifestyle, and to provide visitors with a very special kind of shopping experience.

Completed in January 2020, the renovation of the Castle Towers Shopping Centre features durlum’s LIVA metal open-cell ceiling. The louvre blades of the LIVA open-cell ceiling are arranged at right angles to one another, creating a ceiling that radiates a uniquely light and airy atmosphere. The outer areas have a timber look finish, creating a soft and dynamic transition to the centrally located lounge area. Here, the blades were powdercoated in eight different pastel shades with each of the coloured elements positioned to create a harmonious blend of complementary accents.
