Sayfa Group worked closely with John Holland Group to design and engineer a large platform to hold heavy electrical boxes as part of the Melbourne metro rail project.

Construction on the level crossing removal works and other rail upgrades has been occurring throughout the Melbourne metro rail system since 2016. During the execution of the Sandringham line at the sidings close to the South Yarra Station, heavy electrical boxes required a system enabling easy access while being able to support extreme weight and wind loads. A platform that could be installed manually was preferred to avoid any welding or hot works.

Working with the John Holland team, Sayfa undertook specialised engineering to ensure the KOMBI access platform system had the required capacity to handle the wind and weight loads of the equipment. Sayfa’s technical team were on-site to assist with support and provide detailed shop drawings.

With its modular, no-weld and simple to install capabilities, the KOMBI platform was easily assembled and adjusted on site by John Holland personnel.
