ALDI always promised to have significant impacts on consumers and competition alike, and the sheer magnitude of their distribution facility in Dandenong is confirmation of this.

As a supplier & installer, it is not every day that you work on projects with million dollar price tags, but it is with pride that Acculine completed this project on time and within budget. Acculine were contracted to supply and install a range of fixed Louvres and Natural Ventilation systems at the ALDI Distribution Facility in Dandenong.

Woodhead Architects worked with Acculine to design efficient Ventilation solutions for ALDI’s Distribution Depot, using natural ventilation principles to ensure a cost effective and healthy work environment.

The actual venting principle works best with heat being released at the roofline, while fresh air is drawn in through venting louvres lower down within the building facade, thereby creating a circular flow which purges the stale hot air, replacing it with cool and fresh air.

The OVATA High Capacity Continuous Ridge Ventilators were chosen for their high exhaust capacity for tough environments, effectively and efficiently venting heat (and fumes, though this is not an issue for this project). Once open, there are no running costs to vent, and when correctly sized and positioned, make them an environmentally sustainable and “green” choice.

Should the conditions be unsuitable for whatever reason, these operable Ovata Ventilators can be closed with the push of a button.

The Hampton 100 Louvres were chosen for their ability to maintain air flow while offering an additional weather lip given the blade shape. These louvres were designed to be installed in as many of the walls and doors as required, at various heights and corners within the warehouse, thereby achieving a venting reaching into all positions of the warehouse.

With the addition of Vermin Proofing mesh, this system also provides protection for the warehouse to maintain a food storage rating to the Australian Standards.

The outcome of our involvement in this very important part of the design and build is a gentle and natural ventilated space, which promotes health, comfort and safety.
