The KOMBI modular platform system from Sayfa Group met the specific requirements of remote solar farms for access platforms that would allow maintenance crews to perform their work safely and without hassles.

The Trundle & Peak Hill Solar Farms, which together boast over 35,000 solar panels, are located in a remote area near Parkes, about 400km west of Sydney. The solar farms needed platforms to be installed at the site so that their maintenance teams could access the raised inverter skids.

The solar farms sought no-weld and modular systems that wouldn’t need special skills or tools to assemble. Since there were no cranes onsite, the systems needed to have lightweight, easily handled components. Additionally, the access platforms were strictly required to comply with Australian Standards and engineered to tolerate specific wind loads.

Design drawings for the access platforms were produced using KOMBI Builda.

All KOMBI stairs, platforms, walkways and crossovers are compliant with Australian Standards AS 1657 and AS/NZS 1170. However, the SAYFA technical team had to conduct testing to ensure the platforms were engineered to withstand the specified wind loads before production could begin.

It was decided to fabricate and pre-assemble at SAYFA's manufacturing facility and then deliver the stairs and platforms to the site in modules. The modules could be bolted together onsite and modified, if necessary, to suit the site conditions.

All installation was done by Enerparc without requiring specialist tools or trades. Due to the patented KOMBI T-Bolt, only battery hand tools are needed to assemble KOMBI systems. As a first-time user of KOMBI components, the installer was amazed at the fast assembly process, enabling them to complete the installation quickly and easily.

Why KOMBI access platform systems?

The remote location of the site meant that any installation that required trades and equipment would be costly. KOMBI modular aluminium access stairs and platform systems enable easy hassle-free installation anywhere.

What is the KOMBI T-Bolt?

A real game-changer, the KOMBI T-Bolt allows systems to be adjusted onsite to cater for any miscalculations or incorrect measurements. The whole KOMBI system is designed to be flexible and user-friendly. If you can assemble a flat pack, you can create a KOMBI system - it's as simple as that.
