The Parramatta Aquatic Centre (PAC), located within the beautiful surrounds of Parramatta Park in Sydney has provided the local community with a new year-round destination for swimming, fitness and wellness activities. Designed by Grimshaw Architects, the new complex has been beautifully integrated into Parramatta Park with the central ring enclosure providing a modern interpretation of the historical swimming enclosures that were popular along the Parramatta River.

The indoor facilities at the PAC are just as extensive as the outdoors with indoor pools, fitness studios and much more. SAS International Australia was chosen to supply the metal ceiling systems for the fitness rooms due to the bespoke requirements of the space. The main system used was the SAS205 suspended ceiling system, which enables the tiles to easily hang against the perimeter wall and allows unrestricted access, greatly reducing the risk of damage.

The second option chosen was the SAS330 bespoke raft metal ceiling system. This product forms part of SAS International Australia’s premium range as it includes a host of value-added design elements and increased design flexibility. This flexibility allows for complete void access as well as service and lighting integration for a fully bespoke look. In total, 1200m² of both SAS metal ceiling systems were used to complete the project in a RAL 9007 finish.

The SAS205 is a popular choice for high traffic areas due to its high durability and Class A acoustic absorption rating, which prevents noise from disrupting other areas within a building. The product is also widely used on education projects and learning spaces such as the University of Technology Sydney.

The project was completed in Q3 2023.
