Dave Hanan from Delta Utilities chose the Hyundai R210LC-9 excavator from Eagle Equipment NZ. Eagle Equipment NZ are dealers of Hyundai Construction Equipment Australia .
Delta Utilities are an asset management and contracting business that provide a wide range of services to a variety of customers throughout the South Island of New Zealand. This includes providing contracting and asset management services for essential service assets such as electricity and telecommunications networks; water and wastewater systems; roading and civil works; landscaping and environmental services including related services such as construction, maintenance and design.
While there are several divisions with Delta Utility Services, including asset management, civil, electrical and other specialist services, the Hyundai R210LC-9 excavator was purchased to work primarily within the Environmental Services area of expertise.
Delta’s Environmental Services offer a comprehensive service with the ability to enhance the aesthetics of community ‘green space’ utilities, maximising the quality and usage of sports facilities, while minimising the footprint left by the large scale disposal of waste material.
A total waste solution can be offered to clients with a view to maximising recycling and minimising waste. The focus for the new Hyundai R210LC-9 excavator is for the treatment of organic and woody wastes for beneficial reuse.
The Hyundai R210LC-9 excavator has been purchased to work in conjunction with the two New Zealand-built shredders that use revolutionary grinding and screening technology specifically designed to reduce waste to mulch. The blades of the shredders are designed to efficiently slice through the material and the blades can also withstand most contaminants.
One of these shredders is a truck-trailer unit and the other is being track mounted for mobile operation. These shredders weigh 24 + 32 tonnes respectively, and carry out green waste recycling and other shredding work, mainly for councils and within the dairy industry.
Delta Environmental Services shred for private clients, where the product made is used for the manufacture of composts, mulches, cow lane, feed lot, flooring and wintering pad materials.
The use of the shredders and the Dash 9 excavator is valuable for farmers preparing for dairy conversions, as this requires clearing forestry and tree removal for irrigation and better pasture management. It also assists with reducing the carbon footprint, as clients can clean up property and free up land without creating fire and safety hazards that come with the traditional methods like burning, which releases large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
The new Hyundai R210LC-9 excavator offers the following advanced features:
- A cell phone integration system allows for a mobile phone to be plugged into the audio system giving hands-free operation is one of the safety features incorporated into the Dash 9.
- The fuel economy of the Dash 9 goes hand-in-hand with Delta’s sustainable approach to business, as does the extended maintenance intervals, which mean more hours between oil and filters changes and less routine servicing.
- The new engines are also cleaner burning and environmentally friendly, making the Hyundai excavator suitable for environmentally conscious companies.
Hyundai Construction Equipment Australia also provided remote management service to Delta Utilities. The GPS tracking and reporting allows Delta to see where the machine is located on-site and tracks productivity. The remote management system is standard and consists of a web-based satellite link from the machine back to base. This allows for the monitoring of things such as fuel burn and productivity, and allows for early detection of any incidents with the machines, such as over revving, from anywhere in the world.
The Hyundai R210LC-9 excavator offers suitable visibility, control and ergonomics and has a comfortable seat. The Hyundai R210LC-9 excavator meets ISO standards, while the cab has user friendly display consoles and climate controlled-air conditioning and a rear view camera.
