In addition to the many sustainable features of the Paarhammer window and door manufacturing plant, it is now powered by the sun with the installation of an almost 100 kW photovoltaic solar system to provide electricity, which is used to manufacture windows and doors.

To do even more for the environment, the company decided to have solar panels installed on the large roof of the factory. While a high level of self-consumption is aimed for, there are also backup batteries and a gateway.

The available energy from the sun is 3000 times higher than the worldwide energy need. Solar panels for hot water, or to create energy through photovoltaic panels, are a truly sustainable resource, which reduces carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.

Factories are big consumers of energy during the production process, but when these energy needs are at their peak during the day (when the sun is shining) the energy can be harvested and used right away.

Solar installation has now been added to the considerable list of sustainable features of the Paarhammer factory, which also includes light management to reduce electricity needs, water tanks for supply to the factory, and waste management where our wood shavings are recycled into wood briquettes that are used to provide hot water and heat to our factory during the winter months, with the rest offered to the public (reducing landfill by about 1700m³ per year, around two-thirds of an Olympic sized swimming pool).
