Laminex offer a fire retardant decorative laminate that conforms to industry fire safety standards, code AS/NZS 2924.1 for high pressure decorative laminates.

Laminex fire retardant laminate is adhered on the surfaces of panels with a variety of approved fire retardant substrates using Resorcinol Formaldehyde or Neoprene adhesives for best fire retardant properties. Laminex fire retardant laminate is not recommended for application directly to plaster, plasterboard or concrete.

The fire retardant laminate sheets come in 2400 mm x 1200 mm cuts, other sizes are subject to enquiry. The sheets are available in 1.2mm and 0.8mm thicknesses.

When tested to AS/NZS 1530.3 Laminex fire retardant laminate typically achieved the following scores, with a lower score indicating higher resistance:

  • Range Ignitability 0/20
  • Spread of Flame 0/10
  • Heat Evolved 0/10
  • Smoke Developed 4/10

Laminex fire retardant laminate is also highly resistant to water absorption and staining. The laminate is available in a range of colours and a flint finish.

Laminex fire retardant laminate has good colour retention and dimensional stability in normal interior applications. However, prolonged exposure to sunlight may cause shrinkage and/or some change in colour.
