For Knauf , economic success is linked to respect for the environment. They are committed to producing environmental building products.

Knauf endeavours to comply with all applicable legislation and to work within sustainable development principles. They monitor and analyse their business through an Environmental Management System (EMS).

Environmental building products need to focus on four key areas:

  • Carbon emissions
  • Energy efficiency
  • Water efficiency
  • Waste management

Knauf is dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water when manufacturing environmental building products. They measure, review and report on water consumption every month.

For plasterboard, there is a need to reduce the consumption of thermal energy for the plaster mill and the plasterboard plant. Knauf seeks to improve energy efficiencies through operational upgrades and possible use of alternative energy sources.

Waste management occurs throughout the plasterboard life cycle. This plasterboard is 100 per cent recyclable at all production stages.
