When the RTA had to change the traffic lane usage indicator light globes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, they had a problem.
Accessing the overhead gantries to change the globes has become an increasing safety and liability risk for maintenance staff and the RTA. Security issues from public interference to portable ladders used to access gantries from the bridge walkways and changes to occupational health and safety regulations caused a rethink.
