Go Kindy, an urban childcare facility in Newcastle, NSW was a finalist in the 2019 Dulux Colour Awards in the Commercial Interior – Public Space and Hospitality category.

Designed by architect John Streeter, the childcare centre contains several internal playrooms over three levels, each having direct access to a large open landscaped play area and a 10m high powdercoated model eucalypt tree screen.

The screen features both Duratec Eternity Titanium Pearl and bright Duratec Intensity Leaf, which have been used on different sides of the screen. Pentagon shapes have been punched out of the screen and cleverly angled to create the image of a eucalypt tree using the two paint colours.

The screens are carried throughout the childcare centre, providing interesting and colourful focal points. Dulux Electro Black Ace has also been used to coat the glazing frames in a contrasting darker colour.

Each playroom features its own distinctive colour scheme – carried through into the joinery, pinboards, room graphics and the suspended acoustic circular ceiling panels.
