Australia’s leading floor and wall surfacing specialists Honestone has once again won at the recent 2014 World Concrete Awards for their impressive use of panDOMO in a residential warehouse conversion.

Honestone has won at the Decorative Concrete Council Awards for the second year in a row, taking out second place in the ‘Multiple Application <5000 square feet’ category. The Decorative Concrete Council Awards are awarded by the American Society of Concrete Contractors for best practice application and innovative use of concrete, globally.
Honestone won the award for their application of panDOMO throughout a warehouse conversion in Sydney’s inner-city suburb of Paddington. A joint project between Baker Kavanagh Architects and Honestone, the Paddington conversion used panDOMO Wall and Floor to create a balanced feeling of minimalism, industrial and home.
The residential project featured an innovative use of panDOMO in a range of bespoke modern and industrial greys – one of the key interior colour palettes predicted by panDOMO for 2013/14.
Honestone Director Rick Hendriks explained they worked closely with the architect and homeowners to create the perfect spectrum of greys; they also had to work with original features being retained such as bare brick walls. He comments that panDOMO is a fabulous and innovative medium to work with, as it allows concrete slab-looking features such as indentations and join lines to be created with a liquid product.
panDOMO’s cement-based composition creates smooth surfaces with a modern, reductionist look, and can be tinted or texturised with a wide array of specially-developed dyes and aggregate mixes.
Commenting on Honestone’s win, ARDEX Sales and Marketing Director Fabian Morgan observed that the Paddington warehouse was a stunning use of panDOMO with the innovative application of the finishing system resulting in an amazing transformation.
