The Centre for Learning and Innovation (CLI) at Queensland’s St Peters Lutheran College opened on April 26, 2023.

Representing the first major project of the College’s new masterplan, the building was designed to promote flow and connection between the indoors and outdoors. In addition, the architecture’s flexible nature supports the evolving nature of teaching methods and technologies. Naturally, the right choice of glass, windows and doors was pivotal to the success of the space.

Local fabricator Fitout Glass was called into the CLI to install full-height glazing with an integrated sun hood and oversized centre-pivot doors in one of the teaching areas.

Unfortunately, the door’s width was outside the product specifications. In consultation with the construction management team, Fitout Glass devised a clever solution by custom engineering the door in their factory and introducing tie rods to prevent the door from sagging.

The result is a magnificent and aesthetic window-and-door system that floods the building with natural light and enhances the student learning environment.
