The Royal Newcastle development features unrivalled ocean views and high quality design and finishes. Located on Newcastle beach on NSW’s mid north coast, the apartments were designed by Mirvac Design and Tzannes Associates.

The east and north elevations of the top 7 levels are dominated by Fineline Series operable glass louvres by Record Automated Doors.

The span of the 12mm clear toughened louvre blades was restricted to 1300mm because of the high winds experienced in this exposed location. The operable glass louvres can easily be opened and closed by the apartment users by a series of push buttons located nearby.

Fixed glass balustrade panels and a linished stainless steel handrail fixed off the back of the mullions are built into the louvre system to comply with requirements of AS1288:2006.

The Royal Newcastle development is an ideal example of the custom nature of Record Automated Doors Fineline operable glass louvres, with the design for the louvres on two of the buildings being very different.

For Building 1 the architects wanted the mullions fixed in between the slab levels, whereas for Building 3 the mullions run past the concrete slabs.
