Buchan has announced the acquisition of two new Senior Associates for its design team in Sydney in order to meet demands of a changing built environment market.

Nataly Ernst joins the studio as Senior Associate, Architecture, while Marcin Zugaj has been appointed Senior Associate, Interior Design.

Buchan Head of Strategy and Marketing Laraine Sperling says the new hires underline the practice’s investment in growth and diversity as it looks to increase its market share.

“Nataly and Marcin expand Buchan’s experience in our commercial and workplace sectors, while also enhancing our expertise within our Living sector, particularly in medium and high-density residential apartments, hospitality and Build to Rent,” she says.

“These appointments respond to the growing client expectation to offer broader and more diverse sector experience to our projects.

“It’s exciting to be part of a design company that after some 130 years, is again sitting at the precipice of growth and opportunity.”

Ernst brings 18 years of experience in architectural design and construction across Australia, the United Arab Emirates, and her native Germany to the role. The new Senior Associate has made her mark on a number of high-profile, award-winning architectural projects in a number of sectors including high-end residential, Build to Rent and student accommodation to commercial and gallery spaces.

Zugaj joins Buchan with over 15 years of senior design experience, working across the Australian, Asian and US markets. His involvement in delivering a suite of retail, hotel and workplace projects will strengthen Buchan’s offering.

The new appointments bolster Buchan’s talent pool of more than 250 staff across studios throughout Australia, New Zealand and China.
