Woods Bagot announces the appointment of Ivan Turcinov as Design Director at their Melbourne studio.

Turcinov has over 22 years of rich design experience across architectural, urban, interior and academic disciplines, having worked as a project and design director on numerous large-scale projects in major urban contexts. Turcinov brings a comprehensive approach to project design issues with his expertise extending from design conceptualisation to building completion.

Woods Bagot Principal Bruno Mendes says Turcinov's approach to design is not driven by building or form, but instead is a process of engagement.

Turcinov has taught and critiqued architectural design at leading Australian universities in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. His early experience with Terry Farrell in London and later with ARM Architecture in Melbourne explored a more experimental approach to design, drawing ideas from a mix of history and popular culture.

Prior to joining Woods Bagot, Turcinov worked on a number of significant cultural, civic and public works in Melbourne with ARM Architecture, including MTC Southbank Theatre, Melbourne Recital Centre, Shrine of Remembrance Stage 2 and Melbourne Central Retail Development. Milestone projects also include the MI6 office building with Terry Farrell in London and Stage 1 of the Adelaide Convention Centre by Woods Bagot/SOM Chicago in 1999. Turcinov was also a named partner and design director at CHT Architects in Melbourne.
