Tickets are now available for BuildSA, a new conference on Building Information Modelling (BIM) in South Australia that seeks to help clients, decision makers and asset owners better understand how BIM can maximise the value of their projects or business.

Spread across a series of seminars throughout 2015, the first BuildSA information session will be held on April 14 at the University of Adelaide, and include keynotes from DEXUS’ Victor Hoog Antink, CITB, Chris Penn of BuildingSMART, and director of US’ Russell & Yelland Architects, Stewart Caldwell.

This introductory presentation and networking session will identify industry trends and the role of BIM software, and help delegates understand BIM integration into the project lifecycle of a building. It is then followed by a session on June 16 that looks at developing BIM execution plans, Open BIM and interoperability.

The last event will take place in July, and include keynotes, breakout sessions and a panel forum to conclude.

“Whilst [BIM] might be relatively new for the construction industry, it is already a well-established method of working in many other industries,” the organisers said.

Building Information Modelling will change the way all built assets are designed, constructed and maintained. It is vital that everyone in the SA construction industry today understands the value of this change and how they too can work faster, smarter and more efficiently to improve their bottom line.”

The content delivered at the BuildSA seminars will focus on the production of information which aligns with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure’s (DPTI) strategic objectives for the future of BIM in SA. It is driven by the anticipation that in the future, output required by the AEC industry will become increasingly information rich, with the information having inherent value to all participants in the building and construction industry.

BuildSA is sponsored and supported by a range of organisations, including the DPTI, Consult Australia, the Australian Institute of Architects, HIA and ACA. To find out more, including the full event schedule, please visit build-sa.com.au.
