Northstar Developments has proposed a floating lagoon facility for Perth's Swan River, which will be available for public use all year round. Called the Swan River Deck, the plan, which is inspired by a similar concept proposed for New York City, will be docked off Elizabeth Quay.
Northstar Developments roped in ARM Architecture to create the concept, which will include a swimming pool, marina, and event and exhibition spaces.
A key objective of the proposal is to bring people to the river, according to the company, which is working with Oceanis International, AECOM, APP, Pracsys and Shape Urban to help create the urban oasis.
Northstar is seeking endorsement for the proposal from various government agencies as well as local Indigenous business and community leaders. Public opinion is also being sought with the developer looking to take the proposal forward based on community consensus as well as regulatory approvals.
