Three architecture and design professionals are joining RMIT University to inspire the next generation of practitioners and researchers.

RMIT's School of Architecture and Design has appointed Carey Lyon, Anton James and Michael Trudgeon as new professors.

School of Architecture and Design Dean, Professor Richard Blythe said the trio would play an important role in establishing the School's new D-Lab in the Centre for Design Practice Research. D-Lab will use design as a research method to forecast new futures for existing conditions.

Professor Carey Lyon, a founding Director of Lyons, will provide leadership at RMIT in the area of new learning environments. One of Australia’s leading architectural practices, Lyons has won numerous state, national and international awards for its outstanding projects including RMIT’s own Swanston Academic Building in Melbourne as well as the BHP Billiton Global Headquarters, the School of Medicine and Research in Western Sydney, the Melbourne Brain Centre, and the Lyon House museum. Professor Anton James, who is a founding director of James Mather Delaney Design, will lead the development of new landscape approaches to public space and public parks at RMIT. Professor Michael Trudgeon, a director at Crowd Productions will provide leadership at RMIT in the exploration of designing flexible living spaces without the need for fixed locations.
