Sydney Living Museums presents Sydney Open Talks: Rooms in the House, an event which seeks to generate discussion about the evolution of individual rooms in the house.

From the demise of the formal living room to the kitchen’s emergence as the most design-responsive room in the house, the talk focuses on the ongoing evolution of the rooms we call home. These changes reflect how we live, interact with others, and think about our personal space.

From 12 September, this series of talks will run for eight weeks and explore how the design, use and relationship of different rooms in the house have changed over time – and what these changes say about us.

Featuring renowned architects, historians and social commentators such as Brendan Moar, Rebecca Huntley, Dr Judith O’Callaghan and Anthony Gill, the event will explore the ever-changing nature of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and more.

The event will take place every Thursday evening 6.30-7.30pm, from 12 September to 31 October 2013, at The Mint, 10 Macquarie St, Sydney.

Tickets will go on sale from 13 August on sydneylivingmuseums.com.au/rooms.
