RMIT’s Design Research Institute is bringing an international touring exhibition on advanced materials from Materfad, Barcelona’s materials centre to the Design Hub.

The touring exhibition, ‘Smart Flexibility: Advanced Materials and Technologies’ will open on Friday 24 July at the Design Hub in Carlton, VIC.

The exhibition seeks to explore the current capabilities provided by structures and materials designed to raise awareness and adapt architecture to its environment. The exhibition will also investigate the flexibility and intrinsic reactivity of specific materials and advanced technologies.

International projects developed by universities and firms from nine different countries including three projects from some of RMIT’s design research leaders will be showcased during the exhibition. These contemporary works will enable visitors to imagine the functionalities provided by an intelligent and flexible architecture.

The exhibition is curated by Valérie Bergeron and Javier Peña from Materfad.
