Formations: New Practices in Australian Architecture, Australia’s exhibition at the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale, has attracted a record-breaking 10,000 visitors since opening its doors on Monday 27 August.

Devised by Creative Directors Anthony Burke and Gerard Reinmuth with TOKO Concept Design, the exhibition has recorded the highest number of visitors to the Australian Pavilion ever during the first week of the most important international architecture event.

Formations showcases six innovative architectural groups through a range of installations, including a robotically-fabricated sculpture and a live roaming radio show, that challenge traditional perceptions of what it is to be an architect. The exhibition will remain open to the public until 25 November 2012.

A major initiative of the Australian Institute of Architects, Australia’s presence at the Venice Architecture Biennale is vital in the promotion of Australian architecture to the international architecture and design community with thousands of the world’s most influential architects, designers, urban planners, developers and critics visiting the Biennale.
