A plan has been developed to incorporate a series of mixed interventions into the Melbourne suburb of Elsternwick.

The proposal, which was presented to Designboom as a ‘DIY submission’, responds to the diverse nature of the Elsternwick neighborhood.

The project is based on a “collective centre”, exploring a range of mixed architectural solutions within one ring road.

Included in the plan are a series of buildings such as a synagogue, day care, pub and low cost housing development.

The consistency of Glenhuntly Road has been broken up by various programs, including a McDonalds, art house cinema, rifle club, holocaust museum, ABC headquarters, Anglican Church and even a brothel.

The uninterrupted surfaces along the main strip act as a backdrop to the new structures.
