Ingenhoven from Germany and Architectus have won the right to design the mixed-use tower set for 505-523 George Street in Sydney’s CBD.

Currently home to Event Cinemas, the finished tower will be 270 metres high, comprise 80-storeys and provide more than 65,000sqm of gross floor area.

The Ingenhoven and Architectus design proposes a super-slim skyscraper sitting atop a podium that will also have several levels of retail and the Event Cinemas.

The ground level will offer public amenity and the George Street pedestrian boulevard.

Developers Mirvac and Coombes Property Group managed to obtain approval for the extra height from the City of Sydney above the site’s existing 150 metre limit after proming to add two childcare centres and a community meeting area into the design.

Based in Düsseldorf, Ingenhoven is responsible for the now-famous “city in a garden” building in Singapore, Marina One.
