The world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems, BAU has been organising the ‘Skilled Trades Meeting Point’ at the exhibition for several years with a focus on members of skilled trades in the building profession.

This targeted offering is all set to expand even more at the BAU 2015 show with experts giving advice on wide-ranging topics; themed tours on the exhibition floor; chaired panel discussions; and a training camp.

At the Forum Skilled Trades Meeting Point in Hall B0, visitors can consult with experts on a range of themes including IT for building professionals, building valuation, thermal insulation and modern heating technology among others.

Themed tours, led by experienced building professionals will offer an opportunity for the building trades to gain a rapid overview of the highlights at BAU’s exhibitor stands. The tours focus on the themes of wood, innovative insulation materials, IT, and doors, windows and fittings (January 21 and 22).

A brand new segment ‘Skilled Trades Stammtisch’ is a get-together for members of the skilled trades, and organised by the Konradin Mediengruppe and the Central Association of the German Construction Industry (ZDB – Zentralverband Deutsches Baugewerbe). This segment will host a series of chaired panel discussions on themes including Thermal insulation – Still a hot topic (January 20); Training the next generation and attracting skilled professionals (January 21); Building defects – Cooperation on the building site (January 22); and Sufficiency in building culture – Lasting quality instead of doubtful quality (January 23).

Germany’s top building workers will be setting up a ‘World Skills’ training camp at BAU for visitors to watch and learn from professionals. This camp is being organised by the ZDB.

BAU 2015 will take place from January 19 to 24, 2015 at the Messe München exhibition centre.
