Consense 2014, the international trade fair and congress for sustainable building, investment, operations and maintenance, will be held on 1 and 2 July in Stuttgart.

‘Meet the Leaders of Sustainability’ is the theme of the congress with internationally renowned keynote speakers and architects having confirmed their attendance. Organised by Messe Stuttgart and DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council), the congress offers a platform to exchange information and ideas with experts from all over the world and to expand specialist knowledge at plenary sessions, intensive workshops and seminars.

The plenary session will feature prominent speakers who will answer questions posed by Dr Günther Bachmann, General Secretary of the Council for Sustainable Development. Participants in the podium discussion will include Götz Rehn, founder and President of Alnatura Produktions- und Handels GmbH, as well as Permanent Secretary, Prof Dr Engelbert Lütke Daldrup.

Day two of the plenary session will feature well-known international architects including the award-winning Diébédo Francis Kéré of Berlin, French architect Jean-Philippe Vassal, founder of Lacaton et Vassal Architects, Paris, and Kjetil Trædal Thorsen, founding member of Snøhetta Arkitektur og Landskap, Oslo/ New York.

Intensive workshops will be conducted in the afternoon with each workshop lasting three hours and dealing with expert topics in detail. A range of seminars will also be organised by the DGNB on current developments and focal topics of the association.

The topic forums are open to congress and trade fair visitors. Well-known partners from the building and property industry have helped shape the content of forums including the Building Forum by the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, the Operations and Maintenance Forum by the GEFMA - German Facility Management Association, and the Investment Forum by the online magazine greenIMMO, which specialises in sustainability topics of the real estate industry.

Additionally, the Practical Forum offers exhibitors the opportunity to present their innovations. ift Rosenheim and the VDI - Society Civil Engineering and Building Services (VDI-GBG) have already promised exciting contributions.

Highlights of Consense 2014 also include special shows such as ‘Sustainable building with renewable raw materials’ and ‘Active research - Better living’. The VDI Society Civil Engineering and Building Services (VDI-GBG) will also present the winners of their design competition.
