The Decor + Design Show and Furnitex, organised by Informa Exhibitions return to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in July 2014.

The International Seminar Series is a highlight of the design exhibition, offering participants a unique opportunity to hear from thought leaders in the industry on the latest trends and developments in the field.

Proudly sponsored by Australian House & Garden, the International Seminar Series will include celebrity Interior Designer Kari Whitman (USA), Interior Designer Kishani Perera (USA), and leading Trend Forecaster Victoria Redshaw (UK), as well as Australian speakers Shareen Joel of SJD Design, Ben Edwards of Edwards Moore and Sonia Simpfendorfer of Nexus Designs.

Kari Whitman (USA) is a celebrity interior designer and television personality who has worked with clients including Jessica Alba, Don Johnson, Emilio Estevez, Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas. Her trademark style is one that combines the latest interior styles and salvaged artefacts, while integrating the latest in green and pet-friendly design. Kari will discuss working with star clients, and making eco-friendly design work for any style.

Interior Designer Kishani Perera (USA) is known for her ability to blend the reclaimed with the refined to create beautiful spaces that are both luxurious and liveable. Kishani sources products from an eclectic array of sources, mixing contemporary with vintage and incorporating pieces from the finest showrooms in Paris to the hidden gems of eBay. Kishani will discuss the fine art of mixing high and low, old and new, and bringing new life to old pieces.

Victoria Redshaw (UK) is the Founder and Lead Trend Forecaster at Scarlet Opus, an interiors and home-dedicated trend forecasting consultancy. Redshaw has advised clients for more than a decade on the future of consumer and design trends and her seminar will explore key deign trends for interiors in 2015 and beyond.

Shareen Joel (Aus), Founder and Creative Director of Shareen Joel Design (SJD) is a designer with more than 20 years of experience across industrial design, interior architecture and product design. In 2011, Joel co-founded Share Design, the ultimate resource for home, interior and design inspiration. Join Shareen and Australian House & Garden to gain insights on how one of Australia’s best-known designers has built and developed her successful business.

Ben Edwards (Aus) established the architecture studio Edwards Moore in 2009 with partner Juliet Moore. Since its inception, the studio has received worldwide attention, with work ranging in scale from private houses, retail spaces, exhibitions and temporary pavilions, to public buildings. Ben’s seminar will provide an insight into the working styles of the award-winning duo.

Sonia Simpfendorfer (Aus) is a Director at Melbourne-based design agency, Nexus Design, which specialises in interior design, graphic design and product placement. Sonia determines the creative direction of each project, delivering interiors that are highly personal, distinctive and enduring. For her seminar at Furnitex, Sonia has distilled the experience of this award winning Melbourne design studio into ten key tips to guide and inspire those seeking to create their own contemporary Australian interior.
