Reputed Australasian design firm The Buchan Group was appointed by LaSalle Investment Management in August 2011 to provide their expertise for the Kippa-Ring Shopping Centre upgrade project. The Buchan Group extended complete project management, architectural, interior, graphic and branding design services.

Construction started in June 2013 on the $35 million project, which now accommodates more than 35 speciality retailers, including a new Woolworths supermarket over 10,695 square metres. The project involved the substantial demolition of the existing shopping centre, with the new build integrated into the original centre building to expand it by 25 per cent.

The Buchan Group Senior Associate Barry Neocleous said that Kippa-Ring Shopping Centre offered a unique set of construction and logistical challenges for the project team. Apart from the significant level differences between the neighbouring properties, which presented an architectural design challenge, the demolition and construction works had to be staged around a fully-operational supermarket throughout the development process.

A spokesperson for the developer said the redeveloped Kippa-Ring Shopping Centre on Anzac Avenue has invigorated the local area with new retailers. He added that The Buchan Group has created a high quality shopping centre that sets the standard for further development in the Redcliffe area.
