An array of events about architecture are underway as part of the Sydney Architecture Festival 2010.

The theme of the festival is ‘bringing architecture to the public’.

The 18-day program began this week, officially opened by Sydney mayor Clover Moore at Customs House on Wednesday, October 20.

In the Customs House forecourt, student and professional installations showcase architecture to all who pass through Circular Quay. Surrounding the city library are posters of students visions of the future and graduates experimental design and research.

As in previous years, the Architecture Association Australia (AAA) has scheduled special walks for the festival which are not available regularly throughout the year. An example is ‘the sculpture walk’, taking place November 6, which explores Sydney's most important public art pieces and looks at how they contribute to the public realms and the way they relate to the surrounding architecture.
