The former Mayor of Mackay has been appointed as the new chair of Queensland’s Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA) following the resignation of founding chairman Bill Grant.

Julie Boyd (pictured below) was selected after Grant announced he was stepping down to devote more time to his role as chairman of Brisbane Airport Corporation.

Boyd is a founding board member of the ULDA and is also Trade Queensland’s special representative to Japan, the Republic of Korea and the Philippines.

Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Stirling Hinchliffe, welcomed Boyd to the role.

“Julie has been a great contributor to the ULDA board in her current role and I think she’ll be an outstanding chair,’’ Hinchliffe said.

Hinchliffe also welcomed Margaret Strelow, former Mayor of Rockhampton, who has been appointed to the ULDA Board to fill the new vacancy.

Strelow was Mayor of Rockhampton from 2000 to 2008 after being elected to Council in 1997 and is currently on the board of the state library, a member of one of the state government’s iconic places panels and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

“Both these appointees bring a wealth of experience to the ULDA Board,’’ Hinchliffe said.

“As the ULDA moves into regions it is fitting that both the new chair and the newest board member are from regional Queensland,” he said.
