More than 100 products including cars, medical devices, architectural and building products have made the finals of the 2011 Australian International Design Awards.

They will be exhibited to the public for the first time in the history of the awards.

Building and architecture categories finalists include items such as a Caroma shower, Brightrgreen LEDs, ZIP Heaters taps and a ceiling fan by Aeratron.

A lightweight notebook computer, finless surfboard, fibreglass caravan, revolutionary horse bit, interactive playground, bull vaccination injector and musculoskeletal rehabilitation system are also among the Finalists announced today by Good Design Australia.

The awards are a division of Good Design Australia, and reward companies that differentiate their products and services through design.

This year’s finalists were selected from 232 Australian and international entries all of which underwent a thorough physical assessment by a panel of leading design experts.

Over the last three years, the Aeratron team has fused bionic engineering with the most creative and advanced technologies to develop a new generation of eco-efficient ceiling fans which are best suited to customer requirements in terms of efficiency, silence, design and the environment. The e503, the world's most energy efficient, only silent ceiling fan tested according to (US-) Energy Star requirements, will be released into the Australian market this May 2011.

Winners in the 2011 Australian International Design Awards will be announced at the Awards Presentation Ceremony to be held on Friday 22 July 2011 at Peninsula in Docklands, Melbourne as part of Victoria’s State of Design Festival.
