Industry body Consult Australia has welcomed the reported appointment of former Lord Mayor of Sydney and Chair of the Committee for Sydney, Lucy Hughes Turnbull AO as the Chair of the new Greater Sydney Commission.
Observing that Turnbull was the right person for ensuring the inclusion of industry expertise in the Commission’s work, Consult Australia’s NSW State Manager Matthew Trigg said that they looked forward to the new Chair leading this important reform and ensuring an ongoing, multi-layered dialogue with industry from day one.
He explained that the Commission needed to tap into industry expertise to effectively address challenges such as affordable housing and congestion in Sydney. According to Trigg, a key test will be how industry is engaged and the ways in which the Commission will facilitate streamlining other government practices.
Trigg added that they looked forward to working with Turnbull, the Commissioners, CEO and their team as they came on board.
