The largest and most influential green building conference in the Asia Pacific will be held from 27 February to 2 March in Melbourne.

More than 1,000 delegates are expected to attend the conference and exhibition, which aims to showcase the future of sustainable buildings and communities. Organisers have also promised that this year's event will include a bigger than ever products and technology exhibition.

The event will feature international speakers and debate among leading green thinkers, with sessions covering residential, retail and industrial sectors, as well as providing understanding of rating tools and regulation.

There will also be full day master classes available, along with site tours to Melbourne's latest green buildings.

One of the new initiatives that prompted BPN to join Green Cities as an event partner is Extreme Green.

Organisers, the Green Building Council of Australia, note that 10 years ago chilled beams were the stuff of science fiction and cost effective solar panels were a pipe dream. Today these technologies, plus others like trigeneration and underfloor air displacement systems, are commonplace in sustainable building. This session aims to provide a glimpse into the future.

The Extreme Green session will be run as the sustainability version of New Inventors, featuring innovative green building products and materials.

Submissions will be critiqued and commented upon by international leading Green Building experts including James Kell (CEO, Kell & Rigby), James McGreggor (CSIRO), and David Gottfried (Founder & Chair - World Green Building Council).
