DuluxGroup was forced to shut down it its main Australian paint manufacturing plant in Queensland due to the floods, and does not expect it to return to full production for several month.

However the company released comments for the Stock Exchange, outlining its arrangements to make up for lost production by using its other plants.

Flood levels reached a height of two to three metres across the Rocklea site, with water affecting the ground floor operations at the office, factory and distribution centre.

The company said: "The upper floor of the factory, where most paint manufacturing takes place, was not water-affected, and more than 80 per cent of the stock in the distribution centre will be useable."

But the company said it expected the site would remain out of production until around the first week of February, when it expected the plant to return to 60 per cent of its usual output.
