Australian Vinyls has announced it is the first company to undergo independent verification of compliance with the Green Star PVC Credit Best Practice Guidelines for PVC, or vinyl, manufacturing.
The company was awarded its compliance certificate by NetBalance Management Group confirming that its locally made resin, Corvic, is fully compliant with the Best Practice Guidelines for PVC in the Built Environment.
These Guidelines were developed by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) in April 2010 to encourage adoption of best practice manufacturing within the PVC industry and improve the environmental and health impacts of PVC products.
Australian Vinyls is a supplier for many Australian produced PVC products. The audit reviewed the Corvic PVC resin supply chain and manufacturing process.
Under the revised Green Star PVC Credit introduced into the GBCA’s Green Star rating tools in April 2010, projects may be awarded up to two points towards their Green Star ratings if the PVC products used in common applications (pipes, conduit, cables, flooring and wall-coverings) meet the Best Practice Guidelines.
For building projects registered after 1 March 2012, the GBCA will only accept an independent auditor’s assessment as evidence of a PVC product’s compliance to the Best Practice Guidelines.
By successfully achieving compliance verification of its Corvic resin, Australian Vinyls is streamlining the audit process for its downstream Corvic customers who manufacture building products, assisting them in achieving PVC Credit compliance.
