Australian Bathroom Designer of the Year goes to Royston Wilson Design

Sam Robinson from Royston Wilson Design has been named the Australian Bathroom Designer of the year at the Kitchen & Bathroom Design Awards (KBDI) 2012.

She also won Best Small Designer Bathroom VIC/TAS for her innovative bathroom (pictured above) and Bathroom Designer of the year VIC/TAS.

Josie Somerville from Royston Wilson Design commented: “Extensive use of mirrors provides additional light and reflection of the scenes created within.

“This disguises the small space making it appear as though the room goes on forever. The decorative mirror magically transforms with push catch opening to reveal mirrored storage. When the door is ajar it allows rear views to be visible at the same time as the front view.”

“A mirror ball adds glamour with a spotlight directed to it creating light fragments dancing around the room. LED lighting, which can be colour changed, was cleverly concealed under the vanity bench top, floating cabinet and either side of the vanity mirror, creating both atmospheric and task lighting.

“An angled blade of glass delineates the shower area, further enhancing the feeling of space. The vanity bench top runs through the shower screen creating a bench top and a shower shelf. “

Royston Wilson won the award for Best Unique Projects Designer for his Entertainment Wall Unit (pictured below).

A fireplace and large TV dictated the positioning for the Mondial style entertainment and display unit cabinets. Technical equipment was housed within the cabinets. Unique venting addressed heat given off from the fireplace and TV.

And  Katrina Luxton from Royston Wilson Design won Best Large Bathroom Designer VIC/TAS Bathroom (pictured below)

The Ensuite has a back to wall ‘D’ shaped bath allowed for a ‘T’ shape wall to be built. The bath to the front of the wall and to the rear a toilet and shower were cleverly concealed, one to the right side and one to the left. The wall separating the shower and toilet has not been run full height which allows extra ventilation and natural light from the windows to flow through to this space.
