The home of the Carlton Football Club at Princes Park has a new outer façade and high exterior walls constructed from Kingspan’s architectural wall panels, finished in a stylish mini-rib profile.

William Ross Architects chose Kingspan for a variety of reasons. The mini-rib profile gives a professional finish, while the internal liner provided a finished surface which required no further treatment once installed. Architect Steve Maxwell, who oversaw the project, says one of the attractions of Kingspan’s wall panels was it exceeds the Building Code of Australia standards for thermal insulation.

The high thermal rating and low air leakage potential of the Kingspan panels allow for more effective use of HVAC plant. This dramatically reduces the consumption of energy. The panels are component systems that combine the facade, insulation and internal liner in one.

Maxwell also identified other ways that Kingspan’s products have saved money: longer panels means less structural supports were required to mount the panels. This saved both the cost of materials and labour to install.

“There was a short learning curve to install the product, but once you’ve used it, you quickly become competent at installing it,” says Daniel Bowman from Professional Plumbing Contractors.
