Stockland has been named one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World at the 2010 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Stockland was recognised by magazine Corporate Knights as the leading diversified property group and the 24th most sustainable company in the world.

The Group was one of only eight Australian companies to make the list. Siobhan Toohill, Stockland general manager corporate responsibility and sustainability, says over the past three years, the company has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 24 per cent in its office buildings and 16 per cent in its retail centres.

"Community development is also a key priority for us. In developing new communities, it is important we are proactive in identifying the needs of the local and wider community," she says.

Corporate Knights published its ranking after collecting data on 3,000 global public companies and evaluating it against 10 environmental, social and governance performance metrics. An 11th indicator was added for transparency.

Stockland was also recently named Ethical Investor’s 2009 Australian Sustainable Company of the Year.
