The Sydney Architecture Festival has revealed a preview of its 2016 program.
For a decade the Sydney Architecture Festival has celebrated design, architecture and the built environment through events, talks, tours and exhibitions, and this year will be no different.
In 2016 the four-day festival, running between 30 September and 3 October, will feature a global address by Indy Johar, director of WikiHouse and co-founder of UK-based practice Architecture 00 among a number of other exciting events.
Full program details will be available in early September, but here a few of our favourite events so far:
PROJECT TO PRACTICE: INNOVATING ARCHITECTURE
When: 30 September – 1 October
Where: University of Technology Sydney, 15 Broadway, Ultimo
The Festival will partner with the University of Technology, Sydney in support of the 9th Association of Architecture Schools of Australasia (AASA) Conference. Listen to Indy Johar (Architecture 00, UK) and professor Laura Lee (Carnegie Mellon University, USA) talk about the future and research in architecture.
SWAMP, SQUAT, SKOL
When: 1 October

Produced by ABC Radio National especially for the Festival, this audio documentary brings Chippendale’s history to life. Take a journey through the backstreets of Chippendale to the birth of Australia’s drinking culture, a hotbed of crime, an artistic hub.
MEET AN ARCHITECT
When: 2 October
Where: Chippendale Green, O'Connor St, Chippendale
This is your chance to meet one-on-one with some of Sydney's best architects. Get your answers face to face and discover unique insights into design and building in Sydney. Bring along your plans and renovation ideas and an architect can discuss how to turn your dreams into reality.
THE (SH)ARCHTANK

This will be an evening full of potential DIY solutions pitched by change makers and an opportunity to hear about past projects that show the power of ‘architecture in the cracks’. Be inspired by the pitches and be a part of making them happen.
THE SYDNEY ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL GLOBAL ORATION

Celebrating World Architecture Day is a high point of the Festival every year. The 2016 Sydney Architecture Festival global oration will be delivered by Indy Johar, UK based architect and co-founder of Architecture00. Indy’s talk will be followed by a panel discussion.
