Macquarie bought 50 Martin Place in 2012 to refurbish the iconic building and establish their new global headquarters. Situated in Sydney’s CBD, the building is famous for its Beaux-Arts façade and neoclassical grand hall and banking chamber but the transformation by architects Johnson Pilton Walker brings the 80-year-old building into the 21st century to create a state-of-the-art workspace.
The project features glass bridges, glass lifts, a roof terrace and a two-storey glass-domed roof to create a light-filled central atrium.
SAS International Australia provided bespoke metal ceiling solutions, producing individual ceiling bays throughout the office space that were sympathetic to the heritage requirements of the build. SAS130 tiles with large open area and SAS750 Tubeline were specified in the offices and corridors to allow passive chilled beam airflow. SAS was able to contribute towards the construction goal to use 100% fresh air in the building.
