Work has been completed on the 22,500sqm TigerTurf synthetic oval at Mill Park Secondary College, located north of Melbourne.

The oval incorporates line marking for Footy and Soccer with a cricket pitch in the centre and will be utilised by the college during the day and managed by the City of Whittesea outside college hours.

The TigerTurf surface will provide a constant playing surface, without the risk of injuries and the need for water and is available for play regardless of the weather.

According to Don Vary, Manager of Design and Estimation, TigerTurf, the site was challenging as it contained highly active uncontrolled fill tipped at the site. Using tried and tested methods, the base was stabilised, monitored and checked before proceeding.

The project was jointly funded by Council and the Victorian State Government departments of Education and Sport and Recreation Victoria.
