Several rugby clubs want to define themselves with the tallest rugby goal posts in the world. The current record is held by Wednesbury RUFC in the UK with 38.26m high rugby goal posts.

The record-breaking goal posts are almost 5m taller than the previous record-holder in Zambia (33.54m), and had to be installed using a special crane.

While holding a world record is a matter of honour, there are genuine safety concerns about the stability of these goal posts, especially since they are constructed from steel and have a high natural frequency that makes them wobbly in the wind, taking them longer to come back to a straight position.

PILA group® Managing Director, Reece Wooldridge advises that an engineer may specify footings of more than 5m deep for such installations.

PILA group designs, manufactures and supplies the safest goal posts in Australia.
