Kennards Lift & Shift  recently supplied sixteen, 20-tonne capacity screw jacks to resolve a problem encountered during building repair work at an historic Adelaide school.

Heritage Stone Restorations needed a way of underpinning the sandstone columns of the original building at Annesley College so that the footings could be replaced. During the repair work, four arches had to be supported while new pier footings were put in.

Screw jacks are designed to lift and hold heavy loads for extended periods. The 20-tonne screw jack has a range of 400mm-640mm and weighs 15kg. A 12-tonne screw jack is also available that lifts to the same height, but is half the weight of the 20-tonne model.

Both types of screw jack have a four-way head that permits lever bar insertion at four angles.

Kennards Lift & Shift offer many other types of jacks for hire from their hire centres in Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. A new outlet in Queensland will be opening early in the new year.
