External sunscreen blinds from Helioscreen Australia and New Zealand have been fitted at the newly built Blackmores facility in Warriewood.

Located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the purpose-built Blackmores facility incorporates several environmentally sustainable features in the design, lowering its carbon footprint to one eighth that of comparable developments.

The vast reception area is one of the most striking elements of the design. The reception atrium called for a highly innovative solar management solution due to the glare and heat gain issues presented by the 7m foyer height.

Helioscreen external sun control shades were installed to manage these issues, and dramatically cut down air-conditioning costs.

A key challenge involved the manufacture and installation of large blinds, which Helioscreen was able to meet by sourcing 130mm aluminium roller tubes and fabricating high load brackets especially for the project.

Helioscreen’s automated sun control systems are ideal for diverse requirements from designing a six star green building to creating unique or dynamic façades.

Key features of Helioscreen external sunscreen blinds:

  • Available with a number of different size and profile head-boxes
  • Can be supplied with stainless steel wire guides or aluminium channels, powder-coated to suit any facade
  • Automation systems range from single remote controlled blinds right through to complete façade management systems controlling thousands of motors
  • Sun control solutions can be customised for specific design requirements
