Caroma  is pleased to be working with Sydney Theatre Company to help reduce bathroom water consumption as part of the groundbreaking ‘Greening the Wharf’ project.

The initiative aims to deliver the majority of Sydney Theatre Company’s energy and water requirements from sustainable sources. Greening the Wharf is believed to be a first for any theatre company in the world in its comprehensive approach to sustainability and in scale.

Upgrade of the public bathroom facilities was one of the first components to be completed as part of this large-scale initiative. The bathroom facilities feature some of the latest water-saving technologies from Caroma.

Water consumption in the public bathroom facilities at Sydney Theatre Company is expected to be reduced by up to 40% by replacing inefficient toilets and urinals in the patron bathroom facilities.

The public bathroom facilities now feature Caroma Cube 0.8L Urinal Suites which operate at an ultra low 0.8 litres per flush. This innovative product is a 6 star WELS (Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards) rated urinal and features an advanced flushing system designed to eliminate false activation and water wastage.

Sydney Theatre Company has also introduced Caroma Smartflush 4.5/3L toilet suites that halve the amount of water used per flush compared to the 9 litre single flush units that already existed in the public bathroom facilites. Caroma Cube Smartflush toilets were selected for the theatre and deliver the latest in styling and optimum water savings.

Deborah Evans, Marketing Manager from Caroma said, “We are delighted to be part of this important initiative which will see a significant reduction in water use by Sydney Theatre Company and the public in the coming years through the use of water efficient toilets and urinals.”

“As an organisation we are committed to the development of water efficient products which can be installed to help reduce water consumption” Ms Evans added.

Sally Noonan, Head of Development from Sydney Theatre Company said: “This long overdue refurbishment of our public bathrooms at The Wharf allows us not only to pave the way for implementation of rainwater harvesting in the new year but will also ensure optimum water efficiency through the provision of state-of-the-art fixtures by Caroma.”

Caroma has worked with many businesses across Australia and around the world to assist in their efforts to reduce bathroom water consumption.
