Britex has put its specialist knowledge and products to the test, supplying vandal resistant commercial bathroom products for the refurbishment of the Melbourne Central Station toilet block. The upgrade to the restroom facilities forms part of a larger project by Melbourne metropolitan rail network and includes a number of specialist stainless steel bathroom fixtures, supplied by Britex.

With Melbourne being a much used and key station on the City Loop network it was essential that all bathroom products were resistant to vandalism and frequent usage. The maintenance contractors and facility operators required that the toilet products and fixtures not only be easy to maintain, hard wearing and durable, but also aesthetically pleasing.

Britex supplied stainless steel bathroom fittings that achieve all of the above requirements and more. The Melbourne toilet blocks are now, not only vandal proof, but also far more environmentally friendly thanks to the high water efficiency of the selected washroom products.

Britex stainless steel toilet pans were chosen for the toilet blocks for both their water efficiency and resistance to blockages and vandalism. The toilets are fitted with an innovative blockage resistant trap and have an efficient 4.5/3 litre WELS water flushing rating.

To complement the stainless steel toilet pans SaniStep stainless steel urinals were installed in the station washrooms. The ‘L’ shaped SaniStep hinge grate urinals were coupled with Britex’s water efficient Smart SaniFlush Sensor Systems for a 5-Star WELS rated flush.

In addition to the toilets and urinals, Britex supplied stainless steel security mirrors and Curveline Multi Vanity Basins for a complete finish to the highly vandal resistant toilet facilities. The Britex Curveline Multi Vanity Basins were customised for the Melbourne project with 5 and 6 bowl configurations which maximised the space of the bathroom facilities.
