Obscure glass louvre windows ensuring privacy and ventilation in bathrooms

    Breezway

Altair louvre windows from Breezway are highly recommended in bathrooms for their ability to combine privacy with ventilation. Aluminium and timber blade options offered by Altair louvre windows not only cool bathrooms through efficient ventilation but also effectively remove steam without exposing the user to the outside world.

Obscure glass is another great blade option for bathrooms as it allows abundant natural light into this personal space without compromising privacy. Obscure glass has been available for decades but traditionally comes in the form of glass with patterning on one side.

Modern obscure glass products have a flatter appearance, which is achieved by processing one face of the glass, or using a white laminating interlayer. However, laminated glass is not suitable for use in louvre windows as the edges of the glass are exposed to weathering, which can cause it to delaminate within a few years.

Breezway offers two types of obscure glass - Satinlite glass and Satina glass.

    Satinlite glass

One surface of Satinlite glass has small, closely spaced grooves in a cross hatched pattern. When viewed at close range, Satinlite glass has a slightly rough appearance, but offers good resistance to fingerprints.

    Satina glass

One surface of Satina glass is acid etched, giving it a very smooth, attractive finish. Though it does show fingerprints, they can be cleaned off easily using Windex Original or any other cleaner with a 10% isopropanol detergent and water solution on a lint-free paper towel.

The visual obscuring effect of the surface treatments increases correspondingly with the distance between the glass and the object. Objects touching the Satina or Satinlite glass appear clearly visible, but objects more than 15cm from the glass are well obscured.
