Aconex will provide its online information management service to The Beach Mackay luxury residential development in Northern Queensland. The web-based Aconex system, which stores and manages project documentation and correspondence, will be used to improve communication and collaboration between teams working on the $260 million project.

The Beach Mackay will be a 4.6ha private gated community, comprising 34 individually designed houses and seven apartment buildings – varying in height from five to eight stories, with 64 resort accommodation apartments and 120 residential apartments. The development will also contain restaurants, cafes, a shopping precinct, a health club and conference centre.

Teams working on the project will use Aconex to store and manage project information – such as plans, drawings and correspondence – online in a secure, central site. This will allow project participants to access information instantly, distribute files electronically and track the status of all correspondence – saving time, cutting administrative costs and reducing risk.

John Fowell, Beach Mackay superintendent, says, “We chose to use Aconex to ensure we had a reliable and user friendly document and information system to manage the multiple facets and complexity of this landmark residential project. A project of this size will generate thousands of documents through the design, documentation and construction processes. Aconex will provide a critical service for the secure, reliable and accurate management and distribution of information within the project team from design to construction completion.”

In addition to Beach Mackay, Aconex is currently servicing several high profile developments in Queensland, including Brisabane's Vision development and south-eastern Queensland’s Education City, a 232,000m2 learning precinct.

Aconex services more than 30,000 companies from its 24 offices worldwide, managing information for projects with a total value in excess of US$90 billion. Aconex clients in Australia include Multiplex, Grocon, McDonald’s Restaurants, The Cox Group and St Hilliers.
